Preschool Field Trip to Some Pumpkin Patch

Rennan goes to preschool a couple of mornings a week. One of their big field trips was to some pumpkin patch in Tooele. Rennan found a really long corn stalk and decided it was a perfect gun (everything he picks up is a perfect gun). When Mrs. Crystal, his teacher, lined everyone up under the Pumpkin Patch sign, there was Rennan on the side, aiming his corn stalk at all the kids (he even has one eye closed to make his aim better). Funny! Here are some other pictures too.

IT'S ABOUT TIME!

I know, I know, the shame has finally gotten the better of me. I'm talking about the shame of not having updated my blog for about 8 months. It's been that long since we went to Disneyland, and I had been erroneously thinking I had to have an event to post anything on my blog - either that or some witty reparte, and I haven't been feeling very witty reparte-ish lately. Then I had a grand idea of sorts, that I could just post pictures (with or without captions) every once in a while. So, here is a picture of Rennan without any captions (unless you count this blog post as a caption).

The Perfect Picture

Okay, so you know how you can sometimes spend your whole life trying to take a picture that at the very least doesn't contain someone blinking? Thanks to the digital camera technology, we don't actually have to show off those not so perfect pictures anymore. I heard something once coming from one of my favorite philosophers and poets, Glenn Beck (I know. . . don't mock), where he opined that in a way, it's kind of sad that we lose those not so perfect pictures. Some of the fun of looking back on old photographs of our childhood is looking at the goofy and often unintended poses that sometimes show up. With digital cameras, we can take a million pictures and just delete the ones we don't particularly like. Such as, how I have not had a picture taken of me in years that doesn't look like Jabba the Hut, so therefore, there aren't a lot of pictures of me in the last couple of years that exist. Also, it helps that I am usually the one taking the pictures. So, in some ways, it is nice that you don't have to throw away a full envelope of pictures you just spent $6.95 to have developed, but you also miss out on some kind of neat, unexpected moments in our lives.

Well, this past weekend, we were at a family baby shower for Aunt Brooke, and I took about 100 pictures, and Rennan in particular is very difficult to photograph, mostly because he won't stay still long enough for our slow shutter speed to catch him, and also that he keeps trying to grab the camera. I did end up with two pictures in particular that I think could at least qualify for Parents Magazine cute kids contests. Here they are. One is Rennan's cousin, Priya who is 2 years old, and the other one is Rennan with his cousin, Legend, who is 4. I think these kids are as close to perfect as is possible to get, and I am so glad Rennan has cousins close by that he loves to see. He always talks about Legend and Priya. He loves them so much.

Who the . . . ?

Since this is the opening post for our family's blog, you may be asking yourself, "Self, who are these Jones people?" "Is jenandcharlesandrennan one person or thre separate people?"

Well, to answer the questions in your mind, I am going to begin our blog with an introduction. My name is Jenifer Jones, Charles' name is Charles Jones, and Rennan's name is Rennan Jones. We are three separate people, who make up one pretty cute little family, if I must say.

I grew up in Utah, and moved to California for a few years, where I met Charles, who grew up in California. We moved back to Utah in 1997, and had Rennan in December of 2004. Rennan grew up in Utah, although since he is only 3, it remains to be seen where he will grow up (we're not planning on going anywhere). My favorite food is chocolate cake, Charles' favorite food is frozen burritos (which he eats while watching football), and Rennan's favorite foods are waffles, cereal, "macanoni and cheese," "peta-butter and jelly," and any kind of cake (absolutely no meat or vegetables for sure-that's my boy!)

My favorite superpower is time travel, although don't worry about this, because I learned very well from Doc Brown NOT to ever change the course of the future, so when this super power eventually comes to me (AND IT WILL), you can rest assured that your future history is safe. Charles' favorite super power is flying, and that's all I have to say about that. Rennan's favorite super power would be the ability to push "play" on his TV when his DVD movies end and the menu comes up.

Charles works as a concrete truck driver, I am a paralegal at a law firm that does primarily family law (divorce, custody, etc.), and Rennan works very hard playing with his toys. He especially loves his "shake-em shake-em cars." The shake-em shake-em cars are these great little Fisher Price cars that you shake and they go. He loves them so much, he blesses them in his prayers. It is by far his favorite thing to do when Daddy gets home! Click here to experience the sweet sweet joy that is shake-em shake-em cars, and maybe you will want to bless them in your prayers too: http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=2222&e=thumbnail&pcat=shakengo_offroad

I am hoping you will check back on our blog from time to time, because I would feel bad to be writing into the air. I will post pictures and stories from our family life, but they will, in all honesty, be more about Rennan than Charles and me, because actually, Rennan is about the only one who does new funny things on a daily basis. Also, the pictures will be more of Rennan than Charles and me, because most of the pictures we take that have Charles or me in them get deleted because we're not happy with those shots.

Here are some pictures of Rennan from our recent trip to Disneyland. We had a really fun time, and Rennan asks almost every day if we can go back. As if.
